1. About Tofflo
Tofflo is a mobile application that helps UK landlords comply with HMRC's Making Tax Digital for Income Tax Self Assessment (MTD ITSA). By using Tofflo, you agree to these terms.
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old and a UK resident to use Tofflo. You must have a valid National Insurance number and be registered for Self Assessment with HMRC.
3. Your account
- You are responsible for keeping your login credentials secure
- You must provide accurate information when creating your account
- You must not share your account with anyone else
- You are responsible for all activity on your account
4. HMRC connection
- Tofflo connects to HMRC on your behalf using OAuth 2.0 authorisation
- You must explicitly authorise each connection to HMRC
- You must explicitly confirm each quarterly submission before it is sent to HMRC
- Tofflo will never auto-submit data to HMRC without your confirmation
- You can disconnect from HMRC at any time
5. Your responsibilities
- You are responsible for the accuracy of the income and expense data you enter
- Tofflo is a tool to help you comply with MTD — it does not replace professional tax advice
- You remain personally responsible for your tax obligations with HMRC
- Submitted data cannot be modified or deleted within Tofflo — corrections must be made via HMRC directly or in a subsequent submission
6. What Tofflo provides
- Secure storage of your property income and expenses
- Receipt photo upload and categorisation
- Quarterly update preparation and submission to HMRC
- Obligation tracking and deadline visibility
7. Limitations
- Tofflo is not a tax adviser and does not provide tax advice
- Tofflo does not guarantee that your tax affairs are correct or complete
- We are not responsible for any penalties, fines, or additional tax arising from incorrect data you enter
- The service depends on HMRC API availability, which is outside our control
8. Intellectual property
The Tofflo app, website, and all associated content are owned by Tofflo. You may not copy, modify, or distribute any part of the service without permission.
9. Termination
- You may delete your account at any time
- We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these terms
- On termination, your personal data will be deleted in accordance with our Privacy Policy
10. Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Tofflo's liability is limited to the amount you have paid for the service in the 12 months preceding the claim. We are not liable for indirect, consequential, or incidental damages.
11. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes via email or in-app notification. Continued use of Tofflo after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
12. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the English courts.
